My name is Laura but I go by Arulba, an anagram of Laura B, because there are a kazillion Laura’s on the web and it saves confusion.
I live outside of Austin, Texas with my husband of 20 years and our two wonderful teens who keep life interesting. (Sometimes more interesting than I actually need it to be!) My son graduated from high school in 2010 and is currently attending a local college. He plans to get a degree in Sound Design Technology. I’ve been a homeschooling mom for the better part of 15 years, but we enrolled my daughter in the public education system for the Fall of 2010 so now it’s time for me to get out in the “real world”. I still don’t know what it is I am going to do with my life, yet! It’s kind of scary because it’s like starting all over again at 47!! This blog has turned into a sort of documentation of that process, but it remains primarily an exploration of world religions, spirituality and philosophy. I have posts dating all the way back to January 2005. Everything prior to July 2010 is a bit of mess, but I’ve included the posts for reference purposes.
I’ve also started keeping track of the decent recipes I come across at Arulba’s Kitchen. I’m relatively new to the world of cooking whole foods from scratch and my food photography is iffy. But eating more healthfully is another midlife transition that I must make. My health, weight and energy levels are demanding it. Keeping a food blog is a fun way to stay motivated.
On a more spiritual note, my husband and I have been making our way through the lessons in A Course in Miracles, together. I have attempted to do this on my own several times and have made it as far as lesson 267, but have never actually completed the entire workbook. Hopefully with my husband’s help, I’ll actually get through all of them this time! Thoughts on each lesson can be found at ACIM.
So glad you dropped by. Feel free to leave a comment or contact me.
